Since two days ago I am scared of Tonsil cancer.

I developed sore throat went to ENT who said that I have tonsillar cysts, they are due to chronic tonsillitis and thst it is nothing sinister. I did mention to doctor that I didn't have throat pain for over a year, and that my wife recently realized she has HPV so I have it as well and even though I don't drink or smoke and I am 34y old having HPV puts me at higher risk for tonsil cancer.

Doctor disregarded that, and told me there is nothing to worry about.

Still, this feeling sucks, and I should go on vacation in a few days. Don't have to mention that I don't feel like going at all...

So basically you went to a specialist, disregarded his expert opinion and are ready to ruin your vacation...you can't do that to yourself and have every way to prevent that from happening. You're trusting your fear more than a doctor who sees things all day and knows what he's talking about.

Hi I haven't been on here for ages , but just started up with anxiety again , I suffer health anxiety and phobia but if my doctor says nothing to worry about I come out of that doctors room on top of the world, because I trust my doctor. I'd go on holiday and have a great time and leave the fear behind. We are all going to die one day it sounds harsh but we are and we don't know when our number will be called so jus lately because of a few deaths again around me I decided to enjoy each day and try to put fear and anxiety behind me , why let fear of cancer steal you hard earned holiday .
Where are you going on vacation ?
Hope this helped and hope i wasn't too blunt .

Thank you for replies.

I am going to Egypt/Hurghada.

I am not afraid of death, I am afraid of dying, the process. Someone tells you, you have 6 months to live etc, that scares me. The death itself doesn't, as it is just non existance. Like when you sleep but without dreaming part.

Uncertainty creates the biggest fear. If someone tells you 100% you have cancer or 100% you don't have cancer that removes uncertainty and fear, but the comments like, it is nothing I am sure, we will follow it. Cmon, if you are sure, we wouldn't need to follow it.

It's been a month and cyst has enlarged in size twice, maybe three times.

Now I have to wait Monday probably to go to doctors as the best ENT in the city is busy until then.

Feeling like shit to be honest, depressed due to cyst, but not panicking. I guess Lexapro is starting to work.

If it turns out to be cancer, I am never going to trust a doctor ever again.

A cyst isn't going to turn out to be cancer. The doctors know the difference between a cyst and a tumor.

I have been there with up coming vacation while dealing with a bout of anxiety. I also get to feeling like I really dont want to go and I just know I'm gonna have a miserable time because of all I have been dealing with but surprisingly I go and soon after vacation starts I'm pleasantly distracted and having fun, to the point that I don't want to go home.
I have always wanted to to go to Egypt 😃. I hope you have a wonderful time.

I have been to Egypt a month ago, vacation was great. This cyst thing is going on for a while.

I am going to a ENT tonight who is supposed to be one of the best in the country, but I am afraid I will just get that it looks like cancer and that I should have come sooner.

I survived :O Doc said that those cyst get bigger, then get smaller, and they are nothing to be concerned about. It is just chronic tonsilitis.

Damn, this is so liberating. My depression instantly went away.

Yep, my brother had this in both tonsils (as an adult) then ended up with quinsy and had to have them removed quickly!
