From Patient UK Professional Reference:

Although uncomfortable, night-time sweating typically isn't a sign of a serious underlying medical condition. It may be triggered by something as simple as too warm a room or too many blankets on the bed.

Although I'm not a doctor, I can say that when night sweats are caused by something serious, they cause the bed to be drenched to the point you have to get up and change the sheets. As well as this, they wouldn't come and go - they'd persist if caused by something serious. And you'd likely have accompanying symptoms

Good luck
