hello ladies

i have a question regarding self breast exams. ik am pretty small breasted ( a cup) and if I do my BSE standing up and prodding in, I can feels all sorts of lumps and stuff. but if I lay down it is all very smooth and not lumpy at all. Also if I stand up and just wash myself or put lotion on i can't feel anything. Is that because standing up all the tissue drops to the bottom af the breast which makes it feel lumpy? And because i am prodding in maybe?

Is BSE lying down sufficient? sometimes I read a cancerous lump will only be felt standing up so I am afraid that the lumps are cancerous. Even though they are not hard and gone when lying down.

Does somebody have any insights in this? Thanks a lot!!

My GYN doc always recommends lying down. I do both when I examine mine both lying down and standing up.

Thanks ladies! I think lying down is goog enough. I get really stressed when palpating standing up. So much lumpy things. I worry the most about lobular breast cancer because this is hard to feel. Does anyone know if palpating with flat hand is ok? I should not be prodding and poking right?
