So I've been a Type 2 Diabetic for 10 years now I am 35 right now. About 2 days ago I started to experience back and joint aches and started freaking out it was the start of the flu. Yesterday I got the Flu shot out of Anxiety even though they say it takes 2 weeks to work. Last night I got a fever of 102 and Chills I took ibuprofen and it went away and was back at 98.7 this morning. But as the day has gone on my Fever returned and the chills as well as fatigue. I'm pretty sure I have the flu but now I'm freaking out that because I have Diabetes that I will get a serious complication like pneumonia or Meningitis. Has anybody else had the flu with a chronic illness? Thanks really freaking out here

My mums been a type two diabetic for longer than I’ve been living. She’s been on insulin for at least 20 years. In fact my entire family on my mothers side are diabetic, all type two. None of them have ever had complications out of the range of normal, like being slightly more susceptible to picking things up in the first place or circulation and eye changes/problems with shifting extra weight.

In fact she had the flu at the beginning of the year, she also has Asthma, she had already had the flu shot but it’s just one of those things, especially when she works in a hospital. No complications whatsoever.

Positive vibes,

Mouse.
