Burn scar getting bigger and angrier

Hi all

Haven't posted in a while and have been just about keeping my HA at bay... however...

2.5 years ago I got a carpet burn on my lower back, about 6 inches by 4 inches - I basically passed out after too much wine and someone tried to drag me to bed :blush: (not proud of it, but ok it happened...)

Anyway, i never got it properly cleaned etc because it was so sore, so it healed over, but with lots of little bumps... (I thought maybe some carpet fibres were still in there causing the bumps?)

Anyway, 2.5 years later the rash/scar is still there... it itches a lot. The doc gave me a steroid cream for it about 6 months ago which hasn't really worked...

But then today, i noticed it has doubled in size upwards... Lots of raised red spots.

I'm really worried about it because I've read scars can turn cancerous...

I've been scratching it a lot recently so it could be because of that.... but why would it get bigger, doubling in size....?!

I've got an emergency doc appointment today because I'm panicking about it........

Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated

"I'VE READ scars can turn cancerous" - there's the first problem: reading about it. Where did you read that, because I've never heard of it? You're scratching at it, of course it's going to get worse.
