Hi!
I’ve posted a bit about this before but here’s a summary. I’m a 21 year old male, don’t work out too much, except I have a 1 year old daughter who keeps me busy. I eat unhealthy, not terribly unhealthy, but too many processed meats. 6 Feet tall and around 160 pounds.

Almost a year ago I felt under my neck by my shoulders and felt two lymph nodes swollen, then a few weeks later felt a few more on my neck, then under my chin, then under my armpit, then by my groin area. I thought this was weird, and i’ve had health anxiety for a few years now. But I tried not to freak out and made an appointment with doctor. He felt them and ordered a lot of blood tests and a Ct Scan of my whole upper body with IV contrast (Ihated the idea cause aj know radiation can cause cancer). However, a bunch apparently popped up by my neck area like he suspected and ordered me a lymph node needle biopsy. I also didn’t like that idea cause I know they’re almost always inaccurate and have to redo it. I went in for the biopsy, and ofcourse the results came back inconclusive, however they said there were no signs of cancer and both doctors said my lymph nodes didn’t seem or have any traits of a cancerous one. So they took photos of them with an ultra sound about a month ago and told me to come back around thanksgiving to see if they shrink or grow. Then they asked me if I took any antibiotics and I said no and they were puzzled as to why my primary doctor didn’t do that. I went back to my primary doctor and he didn’t seem why I need antibiotics but prescribed me a Z-Pac to take. I just got those yesterday. Granted I have symptoms that kinda make me think I have some sort of bacterial infection. I spit up green and yellow mucus all the time for the last month or two. Also have pains in my body, however I don’t want to take these antibiotics if there’s is no need. The fact that the doctor just prescribed them when he thought it was odd for me to take them doesn’t help me at all. Makes me not want to take them. I just don’t know what to do at this point, shits stressful and I don’t need this stress in my life.

Any recommendations would help or stories of your own. Thank you very much for reading this and taking the time to respond!

If you're spitting up green and yellow mucus, that's definitely signs of an infection of some sort. I'd just take the meds and follow up with the exam in November. I can tell you as a survivor, if indeed there were an issue and based on the time elapsed, the biopsy would have been positive if it were cancer.

Remember...

Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. It doesn't come and go nor does it stop once it starts.

I had a large-ish, tender lymph node come up under my chin so had an ultrasound on it. This showed that the walls of the node were normal. Sometimes a part of the lymph node wall can be thickened as seen on an ultrasound so the specialist investigates further. My node resolved after 3 weeks and needed no further treatment as I had no infection.
