Yes, me again. I'n sure people are fed up of my posts but my issues continue.

I posted recently about swollen glands and a clicky throat.

Anyway the glands have swelled up again. I don't have a sore throat however it is a little painful to swallow sometimes and my throat keeps on clicking when swallowing. Any 'pain' seems to be centred more towards the front of my throat not the back. I've been to the doctors again yesterday. As last week's doctor said he cannot find anything worrying when looking down my throat and in my ears. Felt my glands and said they're a little swollen but nothing to worry about but this is just doing my head in now. I had blood tests last week including full blood count and thyroid checks which came back normal. Has anyone had a viral / throat infection with no proper symptoms before? My glands are swollen on both sides which is a bonus I suppose but they're not really sore, maybe a little achey sometimes. I have a little tickle in my throat occasionally but never amounts to much. My nose isnt really blocked. I should really have confidence in the doctors opinion and blood tests but I just thought this would be gone by now.

A sore throat, swallow pain and swollen glands ARE symptoms. Of a sore throat.

I dont have a sore throat that's the thing. Not what I would call a sore throat. Its hard to explain but it feels more like a tightness and its centred at the front of the throat. 2 doctors have looked in the last week and cant see any signs of infection. And my throat clicks constantly when I swallow. It's weird.

Swallowing pain is a sore throat.

If Doctors have given you the all clear it's probably time to mentally move on.

I am trying. Just wondered if people have had something similar.

Well you are describing very common symptoms of a sore throat, so millions of people probably.

It's your perception of what you should be feeling that's the issue, not the symptoms themselves.

Pretty sure the doctors would have seen evidence of a sore throat if it was that but they didn't and it doesn't feel like any sore throat I've ever had before as well.

Can you not see what you're doing here? Can you not see that you are manifesting a problem that doesn't exist, and creating an anxiety that doesn't need to be there?

The Doctors DID see evidence of a sore throat, but it's so insignificant there's no reason to 'diagnose' or treat it as such. They look for something that's a potential problem, not something that poses no danger and will go away by itself.

You're coming across as completely patronising. Neither doctor saw evidence of infection or otherwise and said as much that they couldn't see 'anything'. Understandably as an anxiety forum I'm anxious about this given my glands are swollen and theres no obvious sign of infection. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this. You're not helping, whatsoever.

I went to the doctors and he said there are no red flags and I'm probably coming down with something. My girlfriend and 18 month have both had cough / cold last week and now my throat is starting to feel a little scratchy

That's what you said in your other post, only a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not being patronising, I'm just not pandering to your need for reassurance, which is not what you really need if you suffer with health anxiety.

In dealing with swollen lymphnodes on the left side of my neck, a whole chain of them with no obvious cause. I'm not worried, just showing that it does happen.
You just had a complete blood count and it was normal so there is nothing scary going on. If there was, you would know it esp with where your going with all this... There would be more significant symptoms not just a couple of swollen lymphnodes. The fact that they are present on both sides means its probably some sort of virus causing then to react. They will go down in time. You yourself said the nodes swelled up "again" which means at some point things had gotten better. That right there is proof it's not cancer because once that starts it doesn't get better. If your feeling for them, checking to see if they are bigger or smaller your probably causing them to react even more. Lymphnodes can and do swell if they are poked at. You need to leave them be, allow them to do their job. When they are done they will go back to normal providing you leave them alone. If you keep messing with them you run the risk of one or more becoming shotty (permanently enlarged).

You are fine, everything is okay. You gotta treat the anxiety or this is gonna become a viscous cycle that is hard to break free from.

Yeah I'm working hard on the anxiety. Saw my chiropractor today due to ongoing neck issues and mentioned the clicking sensation when swallowing and he said it's the Hyoid Bone and said it can get inflamed around that area with infection and if glands are swollen. I find it really difficult not to mess with my glands but they have gone down somewhat however still raised but probably because I keep poking them. Gonna try leave them be for a few days now and hopefully the clicking sensation stops. You're right the blood tests should comfort me. I have another CBT next week too and doing home modules so hopefully I can get through this.

Thank you. Hope you're okay and hope your swelling has subsided.

I've had issues with my throat last 4 weeks. Doctor said it's a viral infection and it is persistent. Anyway I've noticed these red bumps at the back of my tongue and one at the side. They must have been present when the doctor checked as I've had them a week and a half or so but just wondered if anyone had had this with a throat infection? Google says they could be lie bumps? I've just never had them before. I'm sure one of them was bleeding when I brushed my teeth too.

Does anybody know how long blood tests are valid for? I had bloods done 4 weeks ago and all came back normal. But I've been ill since and dont seem to be able to shake a virus off and I have other concerns such as swollen glands. Obviously health anxiety rockets and start thinking I could have lymphoma etc. The blood test 4 weeks ago surely would have picked this up? I know this will sound stupid but I've been really struggling recently with my HA.

4 weeks is recent and so yes if there was a problem it would have shown.

Unfortunately if you have a virus it just needs to run its course. Try treating the symptoms and it may help you in feeling a little better until it goes away. If you have swollen lymphnodes it's because of the virus and not lymphoma so dont worry.

Thanks Careful1. It's a weird virus that mainly affects my throat. I've just never been ill for this long before. It coincided with probably my worst ever HA episode 4 weeks ago so I think my immune system is down because of this and why I cant shake it off coupled with my 18 month old boy being ill with coughs and cold. I'm trying with the positive thoughts but its a struggle sometimes.

Okay. Posted on here enough times about my recent worries. Had a persistent throat infection that wasnt budging but today feels like it's gone. Finally. I still have some post nasal drip and my throat clicks when I swallow but doctor said this was a hyoid bone and not to worry.

My question is though are glands painful when going down? They have been raised around my jaw and neck area for a few weeks but today they are hurting - i just wondered if this could be because they're going down? I try not to poke and prod but it is hard but when I have been doing they dont seem to be getting bigger, which is good.

Nope. They swelled up again. Lucky me. Back to panic mode. Really fed up of this now :(

I am right there with you! I have one under my chin and under my jaw both right side. They’ve been up for 2 months now. They don’t seem to change really, the chin one will get way smaller but the jaw one has stayed the same. The chin one recently swelled up again bigger but I’m not super worried I guess because it does hurt too.

Terrible isnt it. Have you seen a doctor? I've been battling a weird throat infection for weeks so I should just put it down to that but symptoms are just too weird and the infection seems to have gone now. I dont even know if they're swollen anymore but I have been getting pains like someone sticking a needle in them under my jaw. Then I keep thinking I have groin pain, chest pain and getting itchy. I dont know if it's just my health anxiety running wild. Considering going on anti depressants because i cant do this much longer.

I’m sure it’s just the infection you had. I’ve heard the nodes get take a while to go down after the infection settles. I’ve sadly touched mine every since I noticed them so idk if they’d be gone by now, had I left them alone. I did go to the doctor once ( she said they’re fine) and then I broke down and went to the ER where I begged for an ultrasound, they said my nodes are fine. I however can’t accept that so I have another app... this time with an ENT. Anxiety can cause soooo many weird symptoms especially chest pain! I am also at a point of idk what to do anymore and just can’t take it :( HA sucks!

Yep I'm the same. I feel them every day and pretty sure they've swelled up again today on the left hand side because of that. Its obsessive and I have ran out of ideas to stop it. I've had this virus for weeks which concerns me because I rarely get ill and when I do my immune system is really good. The logical part of me puts this down to stress and lack of sleep. I had a blood test last month which came back fine and doctors have checked my glands and said they're just responding to a virus. Still not enough reassurance for a complete maniac like me though :(

Which lymph nodes are up? The ones right under your jaw closer to your ear? What do they feel like?

I’ve been dealing with sinus issues for a while now. I took antibiotics and it only helped a little.

Yea those ones. I think they're the usual suspect during virus infection anyway they are naturally the biggest ones but the left one seems to be getting bigger and bigger. The fact that it's been going on for weeks just plays on my mind.

I had blood tests last month that came back normal I should take comfort in that but it's a struggle with HA sometimes. The mind runs wild.

And yes trying not to play with them too much but they're not really hard and they're not stuck to the skin or anything. What about yours?

the jaw lymph nodes, I can feel the left one, but the right is bigger. It also so seems like a bone pushes it out a little more under it (hard to explain) Anyways its soft feeling and doesnt feel stuck to anything. The chin node is soft but harder than the jaw node. it moves around like a little ball. so for all I know the jaw node is normal and has always been this way, because before the HA over them I never even thought to touch them or knew where they were lol! The chin node is defiantly new and has me the most worried, but again i touch it everyday so idk if it would even go away! It is such an awful cycle. I've had many HA episodes before but none like this. I guess because growing up, I feel like people are taught to believe that any lump or bump is bad! I am really hoping after my ENT appt I can finally put this to rest. I also have a lipoma which 3 DOCTORS have confirmed thats all it is, but my HA mind is having me get it removed:wacko:

I'm the same I've forgot what normal is now. I used to feel my glands every now and then but no where near as much as now. The left one has gone down again today but honestly dont know if it's now normal size because I've forgot what normal feels like. I know these ones are meant to be bigger though. It's good news that you already have the node under your chin checked out and it was fine. Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves that the good news we've received could have been worse. A lot easier said than done with HA though. I can feel the nodes under my jaw closer to my chin on both sides if thats any help. And the left one is usually a little bigger.

How are you doing? Did you make an appt? I haven’t really been on here the past few days.
Do you feel 4 lymph nodes on your neck or just the 2?
