So tonight i had a few pieces of pasta with green pesto on.
However after a few bitefuls my partner informed me the jar was dented and it didn't pop when it opened which meant it wasn't sealed correctly or it was off.

I stopped eating after about 5 or 6 pieces and made something else to eat instead but now i'm gonna have to sit through the waiting game of possible botulism and i'm terrified! i don't know how to deal with it :weep:

You are not gonna get botulism, its EXTREMELY rare.

Looks like commercial jarred pesto has lactic acid in it as a preservative to address this very issue.

Also, commercially canned and jarred food is heated to a temperature high enough to kill botulism spores before being sealed, which has essentially eradicated botulism from commercial food products. It's really only an issue now in home canning, and even then SO rare.
