View Full Version : This is odd.
So two days ago I went to a hand specialist for this weird lumpy thing on my index finger on my left hand. She xrays it and tells me it’s osteoarthritis, bit of a bone spur and just part of that. So I left relieved. Last night I had been cleaning all day and my right hand was sore. I was massaging it and found a rock hard lump maybe sIze of a pea at the bottom base of my middle finger palm side. It isn’t soft. Feels hard almost like bone. Well of course I’m upset. Any insight?
It's exactly what the doctor diagnosed and part of osteoarthritis. I have it in my right wrist.

Fishmanpa the first one I had looked at was at top of my righ index finger and was not this hard. This one is on opposite hand palm
Side at base of my middle finger. Does that sound odd it’s in that location? Thanks for the insight.
I had that exact thing years and years ago, I for the life of me can't remember what my dr called it. It was unnerving though, hard lump.
Eventually it went away but it was there a long long time.
Ganglion cyst. Very common with arthritis. I have one there as well.

Yep, I've had one of those two, right at the base between two fingers. It went away on it's own.
Ankietyjoe was it tender or did it hurt? This is at the base (bottom of my middle finger).
NancyW was the lump at the base or bottom of your finger? Because it is very hard. Not
Sure what size it’s supposed to be but to me it feels big but my imagination could be getting the better of me
When I first got it, it hurt. Then after that, it seemed to solidify and it didn't hurt anymore. It's still there now, like six years later, but not as big as it originally was.

Thanks everyone. It was indeed a ganglion cyst. It was very hard. They drained it right in office. Apparently my tendons in my fingers are strained.
