I had my ear syringed this morning due to a build up of wax.
Now my ear keeps popping and my hearing in my ear is reduced.
Nurse said I still had wax left , but my hearing was ok before the syringing.
Worried my ear has been permanently damaged. I fee like I’ve been on a flight , my ear also feels very full.
Has anyone had this and did it get better, really worried as usual !

Water stuck in your ear? Tilt your head with ‘deaf’ ear facing down and massage your Tragus (the tough flap bit in front of your ear hole). Basically massage it against your ear hole. This used to help me get water out after swimming.

Woke up this morning, ear still popping , full and reduced hearing.

Still have reduced hearing and popping after having ear syringed.
Spoke to pharmacist who said it was probably water and wax. Just want it to clear , worried that it won't. Have GPS appointment on Monday as want to stop anti depressents. Also have hospital appointment for left sided pain that I've had on and off for nearly a year.
My anxiety is not good at the moment.

I've had something similar. Sounds stupid but my instinct was to jump up and down, and that somehow dislodged the water / blockage! Was the most satisfying feeling afterward. Your hearing will be fine don't worry x

My ear is no better , it’s been 2 days , it’s blocked, popping and hearing is not good. Now really worried, could it take longer to clear..

No joke my dad had his done and he was actually deaf for like a week. Couldn't hear a thing that's how bad! It'll clear up, honestly don't worry. I would be panicked too but from an outside perspective it really will just clear up x

Thank you for your replies but freaking out at the moment !
Hearing is a bit better, but crackerling and popping , especially when eating has got no better.
Worried syringing has caused permanent damage , it's really scary. .

Not able to contact the nurse over the weekend, I have drs appointment on Monday morning.
Was just wondering if other people had the same thing and how long it lasted.

Yes I have read the replies !!
I was hoping someone had exactly the same as me after having their ears syringed.
If you don't have health anxiety , then you cannot really appreciate the panic and fear !!!! 😑

No, I don't have health anxiety which is exactly why I reply. I see your fear and line of thinking as totally irrational and regardless of what your mind is telling you, it is totally irrational. Your post history is affirmation. You're not deaf nor are you going deaf. You had a load of crap syringed out of your ear and have some side effects that will eventually clear. You've also had several people reply they've had the exact same thing and it's done nothing to quell your fear. Let us know what the doctor says ;)

I would estimate that 95% of members here have suffered with HA and have a fair understanding of how it works. Moreover, the patterns are obvious, even to those non-HA sufferers.

I have suffered with HA myself in the past. I have also had ears syringed numerous times since childhood and have persistent tinnitus today, which may or may not have been a result of this. I have a chronic pain disorder too, on top of MH problems.

But I can only speak of coping and managing symptoms, not a "cure". Some days are far worse than others re tinnitus but my focus is on other things because one thing I am certain about is that anxiety exacerbates physical symptoms of all kinds.

Speak to your GP tomorrow and please move on from this.

I have tinnitus as well.
This is not the same , it's a loud crunching noise every time I eat..
Yes hopefully my gp can help tomorrow.

Saw gp this morning.
Ear still full of wax, thinks water may be stuck in ear causing crackerling noise.
Has referred me to ENT.

I know I’m posting again, but my anxiety is really bad today !
NOISE in ear when talking and eating is driving me nuts.
Have been referred to ENT , but just have to wait for appointment.
Keep thinking this is permanent.
Its been nine days and started straight after having ear syringed..
Have got an appointment for CBT starting on 27th January.
ALSO have appointment for left sided pain that I’ve had on and off for nearly a year ..

If it is permanent (not saying it is, it sounds highly unlikely) you'll just have to learn to live with it.

Have you tried using that olive oil solution that they recommend before your ears are syringed? Or just wait for the appointment. I bet it’s really annoying, but it’s nothing to panic over - you just have to do your best to cope with it until your appointment.

Woke up this morning and all the noises in my ears have cleared.
Im so relieved , had convinced myself the noises were permanent.
Must have been all the water for the syringing.
Start cbt on the 27th January, really hope it helps with my anxiety.
