Hi,

I'm not sure if I should be concerned or if this is anxiety. But this last weekend, I've been feeling lightheaded alot. I'm not sure if its anxiety because I'm trying to get back into a regular exercise routine and cut down on caffiene. I'm also in graduate school and work full time.

The reason I talk about blood pressure as well was I had my BP checked several times over the weekend and it was borderline normal and pre hypertension 120/90. I spoke to a doctor and she said it can vary for a number of reasons including medication such as birth control (which I'm on) and things like brisk activity. Should I be worried about my lightheaded symptoms? I'm scared.

Hi there

Firstly a high blood pressure will not cause light-headedness. If if was a low blood pressure then it can.

Some people get a few problems when cutting down caffeine - usually headaches.

I used to feel lightheaded all the time with anxiety - it went on for many many months so it is likely that it is that.

I went to see an ENT specialist in the end cos I was convinced there must be something wrong - but nothing was found. It went in time but I know how scary it can be whilst you have it.

Hi

I get lightheaded too, even when I don't feel particularly anxious, just another symptom of Mr Anxiety.

I hope it is ok to post my thoughts on this thread. I found it tonight while looking for medical info on lightheadedness...I'm not diagnosed with hypertension but when I go to the cardiologist next month I have a feeling that is what they will tell me since my BP is usually around 135/82 or something, and I'm only 25, 5' 11 and weigh 174 lbs. I feel ok most of the time but for about three weeks I've noticed I get lightheaded (but not nauseous) after eating. It lasts for like 20 minutes, and since I'm not in the best of shape I usually get lightheaded after eating something with lots of salt in it like chips, a sandwich with coldcuts, or a soda (diet and regular).

I am so scared because I don't know if this is a sign of onset diabetes (runs in family) or something else. Could it even be brain-related?

As you can see I tend to worry which doesn't make it any easier.

Sorry to vent to a group of strangers. For some reason it felt ok, and I hope none of you mind.

Hi JR

Welcome to the site.

That blood pressure reading would not be considered as high but let the doctor decide that. Ask him to test for diabetes as well as that will ease your mind.

Why not post an intro message on the forum so more people get to see it.

Good to see you found us though.
