My mom got me a book for Christmas called The Happiness Trap and it’s about using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to overcome anxiety, depression and reduce stress/worry. Has anyone tried this for HA?

I've used ACT for social anxiety, and found it helpful, although I haven't read this particular book. I think ACT is a useful next step when you feel like you've reached the limits of what you can do with CBT techniques. I haven't had much success applying it to HA, but that may have way more to do with me than ACT.

I'm currently reading The Happiness Trap and my therapist is using ACT during our sessions. I have found it incredibly helpful with the thought patterns of HA. It has taught me that my irrational and obsessive thoughts about my symptoms are simply just thoughts. The premise of the therapy is to "defuse" your thoughts from reality, expand and give space to your feelings, and connect with the present. I would recommend it for any HA sufferer.
