Hi- I'm a 30 year-old female living in New York City. I have panic disorder with a history of agoraphobia. I was completely housebound for 6 months when I was 16 years old. I used to get very severe panic attacks with derealization, and I thankfully haven't had a full-blown panic attack in about 8 years. Despite that, I still avoid certain things in fear of a panic attack, mainly travel. I live in Manhattan, and I have a hard time getting to outer boroughs of NYC (Brooklyn, Queens, etc), especially via subway. I really want to be able to live and travel more freely, but I feel stuck. I'm in therapy (psychodynamic modality, which I find very helpful) and take meds, but this is one hurdle I've been having trouble with. Any advice? Thanks!

Hiyer rl2,

Welcome to the site, sounds like you've made some great progress already. I just wanted to say that you might find that you don't get advice on the 'Introduce yourself' forum, as I've noticed it has a tendency to not be read by many here. If you copy and paste your message onto another relevant page and start a new thread it might get more views ?
