So had MRI on head and neck at the start of this month after nearly a year of ongoing facial/dental pain and tingling. I had an appointment for early May to see dr that referred me to get the results, but have just had a letter though today saying this has been changed to 3 weeks time, bringing it forward by 6 weeks.

Now I’m getting myself worked up that something awful has been found. The appointment will be over 5 weeks after the scan, so would they wait this long to tell me it’s cancer/brain tumour? I’ve heard that people usually get a call pretty quick if it’s bad, but I’m still freaking out.

what hasn’t helped is that the letter with the new appointment had a different Drs name on, which I looked up straight away, and they are an Oncologist! I rang the dept to ask about this and they have assured me (or not) that this is an IT glitch that has happened to others and my appointment is def with the dr that referred me in their department. Told me not to panic!!! Errrrr, I’ll be doing more than panicking thank you.

If something sinister was on your MRI, then your Dr/specialist would be told immediately and he/she would be contacting you shortly after that. Often the specialists that deal with these issues are oncologists as well. Try not to worry and do report back to us soon x
