I was under the impression that when you got to the hospital(in y case 3 different ones) for a blood\ekg test isn't the thyroid included? My doctor says almost all hospitals include a thyroid test in their testing? I live in Canada in case that matters?

Hi JR,

Its a cost thing . A T4 will be done in a general health screening usually once but if it's fine it generally will not be done again for several years. The problem doesn't appear overnight.

Often hospitals will have expected general practice to have done it and will not routinely request it unless specifically symptomatic or they can feel a goitre.
