It was suggested in the general 'Coronavirus Worries' thread that we start a thread for people with asthma, so here it is.
I'm a 39 year old Swiss Chicken and have had relatively uncomplicated, well-controlled asthma all my life.
I also have HA (a lot better after a year of therapy) and this has been triggering for me. Especially as I'm now considered
to be a 'risk patient'. Like any HA sufferer, I am looking for reassurance. Maybe we can help each other with a bit of emotional
support from fellow asthmatics.

I found two interesting articles on the topic:

The German society of lung specialists published an article stating that asthma that is being treated and under control is nothing to worry about. Supposedly, our risk of a severe outcome is as low as that of non-asthmatics.

This, if you want to put it through Google Translate:

https://www.aponet.de/aktuelles/ihr-...kopatient.html (https://www.aponet.de/aktuelles/ihr-apotheker-informiert/20200314-coronavirus-und-asthma-bin-ich-risikopatient.html)

This article is also reassuring:

Thanks for the articles, I'll have a scan.

Over here the at risk issue is still very vague. After the latest big meeting they issues a statement that mentioned at risk groups giving a few examples. This included asthma. They also stated at risk groups accounted for 1.4 million people.

This seems to show at risk is a smaller group due to complexity or severity because we have 5.4 million people using asthma meds with over 8 million diagnosed in the UK. This dwarfs the touted figure for at risk.

This ties in nicely with your articles.

Yeah, I suspect severity must be a big factor in all of this. In addition to age.

Thank you so much for this! I’m working from home as our university president wanted all high risk peeps to get their butts home. I’m very lucky. But the asthma has me really worried as my hubs still works out of the home and scared he’ll catch it. My worries are not helped by me keep checking my temp and reading news. I’m limiting myself to this site at bedtime. :)

I read a similar article too. I also check in with asthma UK.org to see any updates.

Another hopeful article for all of us with asthma:

No, it's not 100 % conclusive. But if people with asthma were massively affected by severe outcomes, the numbers would reflect that.
I'm still going to be as careful as before, but maybe a little less terrified.
