View Full Version : My dog ate paracetamol?
I was about to take 2x 500mg paracetamol earlier, I went upstairs for like a second, and when I came back, I see that the dog was standing on her hind legs at the table, and the paracetamol was gone. The spot where I left them was wet with saliva, so she definitely had them
Will she die? It was like an hour ago now and she seems fine but I'm really scared because it says it's toxic for dogs:scared15:
She's medium sized and is a basset hound / cocker spaniel

Do you have pet insurance?
I don't know. My mum is her legal owner and deals with all that
So I/we should worry?

If you have pet insurance they have a helpline you can call for advice so can you not get them to do that.

Paracetamol contains the active ingredient acetaminophen, and can be toxic for dogs if administered in larger doses. Paracetamol is fatal in cats, but may be given to dogs under strict veterinary supervision.
Keep an eye on her and if she shows any ill effects or if you are worried call the vets out of hour service for advice....
You know your dog and will know if they are showing any unusual symptoms.
Um, honestly I don't think she is insured:unsure:
I found this on Google
Paracetamol is a very popular painkiller for humans but it can be toxic or fatal in small animals. Dogs are less sensitive to paracetamol than cats. A 20 kilogram dog would need to ingest over seven 500mg tablets in order to suffer toxic effects.
So she'll be alright?
Thanks for the links, I'll read them now

yes I think she will be fine, but if you are worried then ring the vet...
She's still here & fine now, 3 days later
The moral: don't let your dogs have any paracetamol
