Nail Cancer

I have a red band running down the length of my nail and also have a split nail at the top. The line has been present for 7 months and seems to be getting wider. Google is telling me I could have a rare form of nail melanoma and I am freaking out.
Does anyone else have a red line down thier thumb?

Hi my mum has red lines in her fingernails the Doc told her that it is her age and burst blood blisters nothing to worry about it happens because her skin is thin and her nails are brittle dad had the same,it should heal in time.

Yes he was not concerned the first time I showed him 7 months ago but I called him the other day since I think its widening and asked for a referral to a dermatologist. I am in Canada so have to wait, he still is not concerned so I hope it's nothing.
