Hey all, so about a two weeks or so ago I had been in bed scratching what I thought was a mosquito or bug bite on my arm because it was really itchy. I had forgotten about it for a couple of days until I noticed what looked like a new mole forming, raised slightly, light pinky colour. When I scratched it it burnt or stung slightly. It hasn’t been too itchy since then. Fast forward to now and it looks slightly bigger and it has definitely gotten darker. I went through old photos and found one just before Christmas where you can clearly see a flat blotchy patch of skin where this new mole is. So it appears like I’ve always had this particular mole (I have lots of moles on my arms and back) but I just never noticed it. The fact that it has changed within a few weeks and is raised and has irregular edges has me terrified now that it’s melanoma! Could melanoma change so rapidly? It’s still quite light in colour. I’m making a doctors appointment tomorrow to get it looked at but in the meantime can anyone offer any reassurance?

Please try not to panic? You're definitely right to get it looked at but it could be any number of things, from simple irritation to non-melanoma skin cancers that are easy to deal with.

Thank you. I’m trying. From the photos I’ve seen it doesn’t really look like melanoma, it’s not dark brown or black, it’s more of a dark pink colour, it’s not crusty or oozing, it’s actually quite itchy tonight but that might be because I’m so focused on it. But it’s definitely a mole, and it’s definitely changed a lot since Christmas, especially over the past two weeks. That’s why I’m so worried about it. Either way, I’m going to ask my dr to refer me to a skin specialist and get it cut out!

I have the same thing on my back. Did you find out what yours was?
