So there you go, i knew about the diary - well i suspected - but the rest has really surprised me no end. A lot of stuff on there i love, like, mushrooms and pasta, and i am gutted about them really. But they go on a percentage of 0% - 100% and there are quite a few that are up to 50% and then just a minimal amount above that so i don't suppose i am that concerned. However it is quite high for the wheat products and i do love my bread and that so now what do i do? lol.
At least i know now, perhaps if i cut a few out i will feel better hey.x

I'm not so sure I would trust those tests with the hair sample. :lac:

How can they detect you are allergic to Pylons, Fluorescent Lights and Television Screens. Seems a little dodgy to me, not meaning to be rude.

I think the only way to be sure is to have the needle test at an allergy specialist through your GP where they prick your skin and apply certain extracts and look for a reaction.

I certainly wouldn't go cutting things out of your diet just because of that. Perhaps consider speaking to your GP about it?

I did ask about it first to see how accurate it would be because it was a hair sample, but it is supposed to be pretty accurate. And the reason i have had it done is because i have thought for a while that i had an allergy to cheeses and dog hair. I do have hayfever, which has showed on the test anyway, and it has showed up about the diary produce. I have had symptoms, both gastric and fast heart rate after eating certain things but just put it down to my being full and digestion and stuff. However, the list says that i have a wheat and nut allergy and this would make sense to me because of my symptoms. I am not going to drastically cut anything out of my diet anyway, i love my mushrooms and pasta, i think i will still have them but probably cut down and have less amounts perhaps. But i am going to try a different bread and i will cut out the nuts, just to see if it makes a difference. I don't eat some of the things that are on that list anyway so that wouldn't matter in the least. Thought it was quite insightful though and a good substitute for now instead of going to be my gp and being laughed at.

Gosh Angie

Bet that was a surprise when you got the results:ohmy: , i didnt even realise you could be allergic to pylons and televisions. May be a good idea to take your results with you to see the GP, im sure he wouldnt laugh at you and would probably be even more willing to send you for Allergy tests to the hospital, i always think a second opinion is always better than one.

Just a thought

Love

God that list was endless, think it would be very difficult to avoid some of them though. This will give you a starting point when you visit your Gp for advice and maybe he will get a second opinion done for you.

Take care

It would definitely be worth getting these symptoms checked out by a doc. It could just be down to anxiety, these sort of symptoms are very common.

I'm guessing that this was the company that charged you the money for it? I've heard on TV that these tests are very inaccurate and the only way to be certain is to have a specialist in allergies check it out through your GP.

It seems silly to start changing your diet just because of this. I'm certain you wouldn't get laughed at if you took the results along to your doc and asked for it to be investigated further.

Perhaps take a look at the BBC health website about allergies:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/allergies1.shtml

Some diagnostic tests, including hair analysis and leukocytotoxic tests, aren't accepted as of any benefit by most of the medical profession.

You don't know our gp's, lol.
The way our NHS is at the moment, a right state, they would not even consider sending a referral for just an allergy test, especially not MY gp's, they are less than useless. (I believe my dad would still be here if it wasn't for them!)
They would not 'waste money' on something so 'trivial'.
They would laugh me out of the consulting room, no funds, to large a waiting list, more important things to spend the last remaining pounds on than that! You know what i mean?
But i suppose i could mention it next time i go and take my list with me, it might prompt further action if they see that i AM serious and have sought a solution myself first. Then at least i could say that i've tried. I did search for the allergy testing, privately, with skin patches and needles, but couldn't find any. And the chinese shop that i went doesn't do the test, they send it off and it is tested and then the results are sent back in a week. IIf you search allergy testing on the net it comes up with lots of companies that do it and they are so very, very expensive, the test i had was not expensive so at least that is something.

Sorry to hear your GP isn't helpful. All I can suggest there is changing to another doctor until you find one that is helpful. They are not all bad. Sometimes you need to be a bit forceful with them to get what you want sometimes.

Good luck,

also the nhs do have specialist allergy people. my mum is allergic to alot of stuff as is my niece. dont take any crap and demand a referal. allergies are not to be ignored and need to be controlled like everything else.

i am quite cross u feel they wont refer you its bang out of order.

The only way to do an exclusion diet is to cut one thing at a time for about 6-8 weeks

If you cut them all you won't prove anything.

Every single person I have ever talked to that had allergy testing was sensitive to wheat and dairy which is why the experts don't like these sorts of tests!

Ask your GP for a referral to a nutrionalist and get them to help you. I saw one and it didn't help but I got some good advice lol.

I had the sensitivity tests done at a health farm using this thing you hold in your hand - can't remember the name! It said wheat and dairy too - they all do!

My dietician said don't bother with allergy testing - work out for yourself what aggrevates you or not.
