Testicle lump very worried

My stepfather (in his 50s) recently discovered a lump on his testicles and has been referred for an ultrasound. Apparently the doctor said the lump felt 'attached to something' but obviously will know more after the scan. I am extremely worried about this and my health anxiety has gone into overdrive at the moment. Could any other conditions cause a lump other than the obvious cancer?
