Not been sleeping well due to the loss of a close relative. Grabbed my lunch through self service check out and through a slip in concentration forgot to wash my hands before eating my sandwich

I touched the pin pad and screen on the till. Am I screwed and will likely get COVID through surface contact ? Or is the risk more associated with the viral load being breathed in?

crapping myself:scared15:

Worried about all the people who have touched trolley handles which don't get cleaned etc and then touched the machine.

Or people who have coughed into there hand and touched the machine.

How long on average does it take for symptoms to show before I can stop worrying?

It takes about 5 days on average for symptoms to start manifesting themselves, though the least has been know to be 2 days in some instances.

I understand how scared you feel ATM, but I'm sure on a couple of occasions since March, I have forgotten to wash my hands after touching things that might previously have been touched by strangers and eaten/drank, but so far haven't come to any harm.

I'm sure you'll probably be OK, especially if you might be in a less affected area, but nevertheless, it's still extremely important for us all to keep washing our hands, regardless of risk

Counting down everyday now, think I am in a low area 5 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week 4 Aug-10 Aug. The average area in England had 6.
