Burnt throat - will it close up?!?

Hi, all
Really panicking, like REALLY.
Just ate a piping-hot piece of food, it was sort of stuck in my throat for several seconds burning me, until I finally swallowed it.
I've drank cold water and milk, but I just read a news article about how a guy's throat swoll up and he died of asphyxiation 12 hours later as ta result of the burns.

I've grappled with many a hot chip going down sideways - or so it feels like.

"A pathologist said it's very rare."

So there you go. It's 'very' rare.

The man also had a stroke some years earlier which might have played some part in it? Who knows.

It helps to remember that stories like this that make the headlines because they are so rare - and because people like a bit o' drama..
