The fear of death is so common among people I think it would be a great idea to have a sub forum for it.

Thoughts?

You could post about it in the phobias forum.

This is true, but you get the added SEO benefits from creating it in it's own forum. I haven't seen an anxiety forum that has a topic for it but there's a good number of Google search's for it.

We really won't get SEO benefits from another forum to be fair.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here...but doesn't every phobia boil down to a fear of death? I'm extremely claustrophobic, but at the end of the day, I fear getting stuck inside of something until I run out of air and die.

I personally think that’s what’s at the root of HA. Why else would people be so concerned with all the various diseasss, illnesses, cancers, etc. I think we all have thanatophobia to some extent.

Absolutely. Yes, it is at the heart of HA.

Are there phobias that are more concerned with guilt & shame? Or doing something that brings negative attention to the person?

I know that Gelotophobia is the fear of being laughed at. I suppose it would somewhat qualify there. Atychiphobia is more a social anxiety phobia - like a fear of failure type thing.

I knew those psych classes would come in handy someday. :roflmao:

Yes, like social anxiety, I'd think. But at the root of it, are people with social anxiety afraid of dying alone? Being ostracized until they die? I don't know, I don't have it.

Yes, there must be tons to consider. Some on here have created threads about a fear of blushing. Such phobias seem more connected to low self esteem, lack of confidence, etc to me.
