On a reducing dose of Escitaploram now of 10mg every other day. Feel terrible, is this normal?

Have severe headaches, electric shocks, I'm unsteady on my feet, dizziness and worse sleep than ever.

Starting another A/D on friday, more side-effects to deal with

Take care

Hi Tabatha, i was the same coming off escitalopram, the shock feelings were the most uncomfortable and disturbing for me. Just make sure you are reducing gradually enough...I eventually had to break the tablets in half to come down even more slowly.
Its not nice but will pass eventually...sorry I couldnt be more help.
hope you feel better soon

i was told that having a more constant but smaller dose - ie 5mg per day not 10mg every other day is better for you. the drug has quite a short half life so it will be see sawing in your system.

i took citalopram (same drug) for 3 months a few yrs back and came off no probs in a v short space of time. however - i weaned myself off lustral v slowly this year and although i did not notice any effects at all whilst dropping the dose - as soon as i was only on a few mg per week - all my panic/anxiety hit me like a ton of bricks so my gp has started me on citalopram again. you can feel awful when starting to take a'd's so it seems likely you can feel awful when stopping them. i wish i had realised this and not got myself into a panic about the withdrawal symptoms and just accepted them to see if they passed!
