23f. So my doctor scheduled an MRI for me because I’ve been really anxious about some symptoms I’ve been having. A little over a month ago I had a presyncope/seizure episode from smoking tobacco. Afterwards, I was really tired and had an off and on feeling of pressure in my head. I got my optic nerve checked by my eye doctor and he said it was normal and not swollen. I also got 2 in office neurological exams done, which were both normal.

I’m concerned though because I’m waiting for my MRI and I have been getting these weird symptoms where I’m really anxious/kinda dizzy for a moment and feel as if I’m going to faint/seize again, and then it passes. I saw online they could be temporal lobe seizures, which has me really worried. I also have been experiencing weird body jerks/twitches in my arms and legs lately that make me think maybe I have a brain tumor or ALS. It’s like my brain isn’t able to think as well anymore. I’m scared because I’ve been forgetting random names/words at times. All these things have me convinced I’m dying.

How do I stop being so worried about these worst case scenarios? It’s like I’m constantly worried I’m going to die and thinking of all the bad things that can happen. I know my neurological exams thus far have been normal, but these other symptoms have me concerned. Should I be worried about my MRI? Thank you for any advice/help, it’s really appreciated.

Hi there,

my doctor scheduled an MRI for me because I’ve been really anxious about some symptoms I’ve been having

Think about these words you wrote - they don't say 'my doctor scheduled me for an MRI as they are concerned about my symptoms', it is scheduled 'because I've been really anxious'. :winks: I would also add in another word 'perceived symptoms'.
