Anyone ever had a endoscopy im booked for one next Thursday and im terrified of the procedure and what they might find. My anxiety has been horrendous for the last year and I've suffered constant acid reflux for the same time . Any advice would be welcomed x

Agree with NMP. There are lots of posts in the sub, I even started one myself.

Mine really wasn’t that bad, it’s over pretty quickly and I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine.

I had an endoscopy about 5/6 years ago. I opted not to have sedation and whilst I recall it being uncomfortable, it was okay. I was more freaked out about actually having it done so as soon as the dr said to me that everything looked good, I calmed down somewhat.

One thing I will say is, be prepared for gagging and wretching when they are putting the camera down as your body’s automatic response is to try and reject it. Once it gets past that point, it’s just a case of lying still and staying calm.

As you can imagine, it’s not a super pleasant experience but if you have sedation I imagine you’ll be fine.

Thank you for sharing this.Yes im hoping the sedation helps.

I am like you were very scared what they are going to find as ive had constant reflux for a year and the anxiety its caused me is horrendous.

I just want it over and done with now.

Did you have bad reflux?

I’ve had awful reflux for years. I’m 34 now and I think I’ve probably suffered for about 10 years. I’ve been taking omeprazole for that long on and off anyway! Try not to worry, it’s worse in your head than it will be when you do it :)

Ok, so that will explain it all.
They don’t do much for them do they?
How are you feeling about it all?

I think because mine is small they wouldn't do much for it no. But the reflux is a misery for sure. Im just glad it was nothing sinister.
