Hello everyone, yesterday morning I ended up fracturing my foot. I was in immediate pain and the area is very swollen. When I went to urgent care, I was told I had a temp of 100.1. I was surprised, because I didn't even feel sick. I've taken my temp several times since, and it's been higher than my norm.

Does anyone have any insight on this? My thought is that maybe the fever is in response to the inflammation? But part of me thinks maybe it's due to an underlying disorder like cancer: ( I'm trying not to Google! I have no chills or fatigue or sore throat or anything.

What did urgent care say? Did they seem concerned?

I would bet that it is due to inflammation, but I would keep an eye out for infection. High fever, or if the area is really red or hot to the touch. I'd continue to monitor your temperature just to be sure, but if urgent care wasn't concerned about the fever it's likely just fine and to be expected. Do you have a regular doc you could follow up with?

Urgent care didn't seemed concerned because the fever was so low.

Then it's probably nothing. But if you still have it in a day or two I'd definitely follow up with your regular doc, just to be sure.
