Thanks all for the hugs and well wishes.

It all went very well :yesyes:

We got there at 7.50am and Alex was seen by the consultant that was operating, several nurses (unfortunately one was male :winks: ) and then the
anaesthetist who all asked the same questions over and over again :shrug:

We were then bored for nearly 2 hours sat in his room watching TV waiting for the go!

At 10.40 he was wheeled off in his bed and I went to work. Got a call just after 12pm to say he was back in his room and was fine and I could come in at 1.30pm to see him.

I got there and he was sat in bed eating tuna sarnies and ordering yet more coffee (I think he thought it was a hotel).

Eventually an hour later the nurse came back to discharge him which involved removing the cannula - at which point I had to move away as it was freaking me just looking at it!! and then give him the eye drops that he needs for the next few weeks.

He has a very sexy eye patch - clear though - so he doesn't look like a pirate :shades:

Got him home and apart from a bit groggy he is fine and keeps commenting on how he can see everything in a new light (literally) and colours that he didn't know were that colour before are so much brighter.

Great news all round:yesyes:

We are back tomorrow for a quick check-up and he has to chill for a few days until he feels 100% again.

I had to take the following pic of him as it amused me this morning .... Isn't it worrying that they can't tell their left from their right?

Glad to hear all went well and Alex is looking great. He had the same eye done that I did in June, I had the wonderful black arrow above my eye too. I can relate to the colour thing altho I will say, make the most of the vivid colours Alex, they soon fade back to normal and dont be alarmed if you see double for a couple of days while the eye readjusts

Alex wants to say a HUGE thanks for all the support - he is overwhelmed by it all and the people that have text and come on MSN to ask how is he.:yesyes:

He is doing fine at the moment and I am surprised how well he is so let's hope it continues tomorrow.

We both really appreciate the support cos I was a nervous wreck in the hospital this morning and knowing I was there in 2 weeks didn't help. Did I mention I HATE hospitals :ohmy:

Just to update those who have been asking after Alex...

He had his 2nd op today and he is doing great. :yesyes:

He found this one a bit worse than the last as the anaesthetic really hurt and his eye is a more sore than last time but on the whole he has recovered really well and I am so glad it is all over with - my anxiety levels can come down a bit now :D

He will be recovering at home this week and I am hoping he is ok to drive me to my appointment on Thursday as well.

Now he just has to rest and let the eyes heal in their own time.

Apparently he quite likes the colour of the work surfaces I chose when we had the kitchen done 4 years ago - he thought they were brown :shades:

You have now cured me of my driving phobia up and down the A428 as I have done it that many times now so some good has come out of all this for me as well.:yahoo:
