The doc has prescribed these to take the edge of my anxiety as I am getting stabilised onto Sertraline.

Will they help, or just send me to sleep?

Promethazine is a first generation antihistamine and antipsychotic, more antihistamine than antipsychotic so it is likely to be mostly sedating, but its antipsychotic properties may help stabilize your mood.

Well, none of these antihistamine tablets help me sleep... was prescribed it before when I really wanted Zopiclone. It was useless.

As an anti-psychotic? No idea.

I take them to help with sleep and they do help me. Also in the early days of upping my dose of paroxetine these helped.

When I took them during the day they didn't make me fall asleep and they didn't completely eradicate the anxiety, it felt like they took the edge off a bit.

I've been prescribed promethazine, tried out for 4 nights and it was awful. Should I stick with it? Will it get better? I'm honestly terrified to take it again
