I remember back in the autumn of 1987 (at the age of 10) and during much of the following year (1988) developing a bit of an interest in petrol/diesel pumps and filling stations in general. I also remember being fascinated and intrigued by the many petrol/diesel brands and their logos/liveries at the time.

Here are some of the fuel/garage brands that I seem to remember from back then, but we now don't seem to see anymore (not in alphabetical or any particular rank order), some fairly common (at the time), others more obscure.

Ultramar (rebranded Q8 circa 1988)
Fina
Amoco
Murco
Q8 (already mentioned above)
National
Gulf
Total
Burmah
Mobil (morphed into BP circa 1997)

A couple of the above brands might still be around, but seemingly rarer these days if so, especially within the 10-mile radius of where I live.

Ampol have just made a comeback down here in Aus.
They used to be Caltex until just recently.

Never heard of those, but they may not have traded here in the UK.
