When I tilt my head slightly to one side I can almost pull like some muscle or node from under my jaw, is this normal?!?! I’m spiralling bad as my dad has been diagnosed with lymphoma and I’m in a real state :(

It's only been a couple of hours. Also, that's very hard to visualise.

I can certainly get my fingers around the muscle under my jaw?

A few hours feels like a lifetime mid spiral. But does the muscle move?

Well, yes. Muscles do move. I'm sure you're fine, it's just something new you've noticed.

I can feel the same thing, mines more noticeable because my jaw muscles are overworked, I've been going through a rough patch and I'm a clencher. In fact my clenching was so bad last week that it caused my left collar bone and shoulder to create this weird numbing sensation every time I exhaled, also had a killer headache last night from it.

Thanks ponybro. So you can pull out this muscle/ gland from under your jaw? How do you know your jaw is overworked? I think mine is too, I have TMJ on one side too and although I don’t know for sure I’m pretty sure I clench too, wake up with awful headaches.

I'm pretty sure I have what you're describing. Sometimes if I run my fingers from the base of my jaw near my ears towards my chin there will be a muscle or something that kind of rolls over the jaw bone and back into place. I also have TMJ and I typically do this when my jaw is feeling tired or sore to massage the muscles, so it definitely could be an overworked muscles. I've never been sure if it's muscle, tendon, salivary gland, etc... but I've noticed this for many years and I'm still here so I assume it's nothing to worry about!

Thanks so much Erin! Yes sounds very similar! Can TMJ cause jaw pain?

Absolutely! I get jaw pain, tooth pain, and migraines from my TMJ.

I know its been a bit. How is it doing. I've recently begun fixated on something similar but fear mine is a node. If I put my chin all the way down I feel a firm lump. Moves around a lot though so hard to pin point size or specifics.

Hey Heather.

I’ve not checked it again as it freaks me out so bad! Does yours move around when you press on it?

Yes. Best not to check if no other symptoms in my opinion.
