Hi all,

I have had throat issues (throat clearing, sensation of something stuck etc) For a while now. I was seen by an ENT specialist about a month ago who put a camera up my nose and down my throat who said everything looked fine and diagnosed me with silent reflux. I mentioned to him I have a red area round my tonsil bed ( I have no tonsils) he looked and said he wasn't overly concerned but referred me as a fast track to the dental hospital ( he put on the referral the red patch was on my cheek?

I was seen there today and the consultant said he also wasn't concerned but would refer me to a tonsil specialist as thats where the redness is not on my cheek! I'm at my wits end and feel I'm being passed from pillar to post. Has anyone ever had anything similar? I'm trying not to go in the dark hole of health anxiety but I'm finding this really difficult ☹️

Thank you for reading

Amy, i know it's really hard, but try and focus on the fact that two experienced specialists have said that they are not concerned. There is a good chance they are referring you to give you peace of mind because they can sense your anxiety. I managed to convince a very experienced ENT to perform a tonsillectomy on me even though he was certain there was nothing wrong with my tonsils! He was right. Keep yourself distracted, stay away from google. Get some fresh air, walk, spend some time with friends. Thanks, Madeira

Yeah i have that sensation on and off. Usually after eating. It’s reflux. I mean, as you get older it’s pretty common. Take some probiotics, eat less trigger food, you should be fine.

If you had a gastroscope clear, then it should be good. Relatively common, it can also be trapped gas.
