I'm getting my wisdom teeth out in a week. I have never been put under before so this is a little scary for me. I know I am going under but I'm not entirely sure if it's general anesthesia or IV sedation. I'm scared of not waking up because I've read a few online articles about people going under and not waking up but then again, it's really rare and I know alot of people that have gotten their teeth out without any issues.
Some questions I have are:
- Is general anesthesia safe for someone that has never been put under? How do I know I'm not allergic?
- Is the process scary? I have bad anxiety and I'm wondering if my anxiety will affect anything to do with the procedure.
- Does having anxiety affect general anestheisa?
- Will I be ok? I am dreading this.

Everyone has their first time under GA. It’s scary when you’ve not had it before but it’s very safe…even for people with anxiety:)

Think of all the people who daily are in hospital having ops. You don’t hear daily horror stories do you? Besides wisdom tooth removal is a relatively small procedure.

Keep off Google, it won’t do you any good and talk to the professionals that are looking after you. Tell them about your anxiety. But really you will drift off to sleep and seemingly seconds later you will wake and it will be over.
