View Full Version : Hypochromic microcytic anaemia- blood test results
I just got my results through email at the worst time...a Friday night. It shows Haemoglobin levels are 12.5 and HCT, MCV, MCH and RDW are out of range. White and blood cells are fine and other results ok. There is a note saying....lab comment..Hypochromic microcytic anaemia. I googled low haemoglobin and Hypochromic microcytic anaemia and been physically sick. I think it's wrong they can send results to you like this. It's set me back years. HCT 0.35 MCV 70 MCH 22.2 and RDW 15.6. I keep googling. I have IBS and have had issues with bleeding/piles but I'm in dread mode.
Your haemoglobin is normal at 12.5 though?

So what do you think is wrong?
Part of me thinks low iron as diet is awful, part thinks may have something to do with hammeroids that happen every now and then. But Cancer is my big fear.

Plenty of people have anemia and are fine. I had it when I was younger.
I haven't slept, hoping to hear back from doctors today. Just don't get what it is.
Still waiting for the doctors to call, surely would have done so if it was really concerning?
