My HA has really reared it's ugly head recently and now I have a horrible feeling of doom I have something seriously wrong.

I was a smoker, 20 a day, for 10 years in my 20's. I'm now 10 years smoking free.

I am really anxious that I already have or will get a smoking related cancer due to my stupidity for all those years.

I have a small lump on my gum close to my bottom teeth I noticed earlier this year. I can see it when I talk/smile. I had a routine dental check a few months ago and the dentist said as it was the same colour as the rest of the gum tissue, nothing was alarming him and just to keep an eye on it. But I can't stop looking at it and wondering if it is oral cancer and wondering why it hasn't gone away.

I wonder if I should get a second opinion on it. I am petrified I have oral cancer from my years of smoking.
