Mishap taking medicine now worried!

Hi all,

I am struggling with anxiety as I have a bad cold/flu/Covid-like illness and my head is all over the place. I realised it had been a few days since I took fluoxetine so I thought I should take my meds to keep me more level.

Anyway, I took the tablet and swallowed it fine. A few minutes later, I had to burp and then I had an awful bitter taste in my mouth from the capsule that had not gone down. The dust went into the back of my nose and my throat and nose then started burning.

Now I am stressing that this will harm me as I have inhaled some of it. Has this happened to anyone? Should I worry?

I do have a doctor call booked for later for my illness and I will probably mention it to them.

Just worrying and spiralling really. 😥😥

The capsule is designed to be ingested, it won't harm you.

Messing about with your psych meds, however, is a really bad idea. You can't use fluoxetine as an emergency rescue, it doesn't work like that.

Thank you 😊 I am usually good at taking the meds daily but I haven't been on top of it for the last few days while I've been feeling unwell with the other illness.
