Has anyone else gone to whistle and just can’t? Since when could I not whistle? Kinda freaky! Anyone else? I’m sitting here trying to whistle and only small sounds coming out!!

That sounds rather strange tan235. Are you very tense? Try to do some relaxation exercises and then see if you can whistle.

Thanks Fishman, I woke up this morning and I could whistle fine but now I can't again!
I just googled it and it came up with ALS!! OMG rabbit hole. ;(

OK tan, just stop there a minute and rationalise this. You've just leapt to the totally worst possible scenario. Not to mention the very unlikeliest.

Often this can be because you're trying too hard to whistle. I can remember as a kid, not being able to whistle. My Dad could do it so I wanted to. But it was something I had to learn. So let your facial muscles relax, get laid down on a comfy sofa or your bed, and relax. Just let the whistle come in its own time.

yeah I did just jump but what else could cause this! It's making me feel so angry haha ... I hate having anxiety - I could whistle this morning, now I can't again or I can but it's very quiet - I wonder if it's anxiety related?

Why did I google or why can't I whistle! I have been trying for 2 days and I can sound now - sometimes it's loud but most of the time it's airy and light! So if it were ALS I wouldn't be able to whistle at all right!?

oh why did I google it - haha - because it's such a weird thing to happen to me!!!!

Why did you try to whistle in the first place?

I used to be able to stick my fingers in my mouth and almost break glass with the pitch of my whistle. I can’t now. Don’t know why, nor do I care much.
This is classic overthinking.

100% spot on! My first thought reading this was 'So?'

I think this is all about looking for something minor but health-related to fixate on?

I hear you all - trust me ... I just find it weird that one day I CAN whistle and then the next I can't! I think I thought it was a ALS sign but my Dr said she's never heard of that so I'l take it and just keep practising?! Its' just weird... that's all - thank you though
