Ovarian pain that alternates on both sides

I have been having sharp pains in both my ovaries. It's not constant, some days i won't have it at all. It lasts for a few seconds then goes away, but it alternates. I am 45 and my periods are now irregular because I think I'm starting to go through perimenopause, so my periods are about 37 days apart, I have been getting cramps now a week before period starts. I am terrified that it is ovarian cancer that is causing me this pain and i am panicking over it. Has anyone gone through this and it was nothing?
