Why is it that at 47, I love my own space and solitude but feel the need to be making plans with friends and socialising?

Why do I choose not to go out then scroll through social media feeling like I've been left out?!

I don't want to go out, but I feel like I'm living my life all arse about face and am destined to fail! (In reality, I'm writing my second novel and its my favourite thing to do!)

Is it because social media tells me to go out all the time?

I'm happily married with two dogs and we have penty of friends. We just don't socialise that much anymore!

Can anyone explain this for me? xx

A personality test may help you to understand your personality type.

Could it be hormonal fluctuations making you feel weird? I'm your age and I've been getting some really bizarre and unexpected feelings bubbling up lately.

There could very well be elements of 'post-pandemic blues' at play, especially as we were cooped up and heavily discouraged from socialising during the restrictions for what seemed like an eternity.

I've also felt very similar to you over recent months; lacking in enthusiasm for many things I once got a lot of pleasure from, but I think that was largely attributed to becoming more accustomed to many of the changes over the course of the pandemic, and 'going out' in pursuit of entertainment, leisure activities, etc has become more alien to me over the same period, despite the fact that I'm no longer that concerned about Covid now compared to 2020-21.

I'm also of a similar age group to you; 46 years old next month.

BlueIris - quite possibly though I'm treating hormone changes with medication and supplements. I suspect its more of an intolerance issue!
