Went for an eye test today. I'd been dodging it for the better part of 30 years in case the optician found something nasty. Today, however, one of the big optical chains had someone in town offering free eye tests. Was feeling brave so I took a voucher, and the woman handing them out said they had immediate availability so I figured I'd get it sorted while I was in the right headspace.

Nobody mocked me or told me off for my ancient, chipped glasses. Everyone was really kind and my eyes are perfectly healthy.

So proud of myself for getting my head together and getting this done. These things are never hopeless even when we feel as though they might be.

So hard choosing, I wonder if you'll end up getting the first ones you try on. :D

It'll take some thought, I wear them all the time so they have to be right. I have real bottle bottom lenses, so they need quite a lot of thinning for most frames.

Anti glare is good too!

Well done Blue. When I found out how long they take, I thought I’d never be able to sit still for long enough but I did. I actually find it quite interesting in the end and it’s so nice to get a clean bill of health.
Next year I reckon I’ll get a pair of sunglasses, proper ones so I don’t have the choice of protection or blindness :D

The reassurance is lovely, yes.

Well done Blue! I bought my most recent ones online which was a lot cheaper than in the shop. Also I tend to get a bit overwhelmed choosing them in the shop with an assistant breathing down my neck.

A colleague has a daughter who's studying ophthalmology, and she's offered to help me find a deal on some.

Try saying 'ophthalmology' after a few pints.
