Hi I知 new to the group
im leaving on vacation tomorrow with my husband
We are driving 1800 miles to spend a week at a dude ranch
Years back this would be my dream trip but for some reason I have become much more comfortable staying home.
I can稚 say what is causing this feeling and is difficult to try to explain to my husband about my apprehension/anxiety

im trying to find the fun\good in this trip but sometimes it gets lost in my anxiety
I find I知 lo9king forward to coming home and know that is when I値l look back and see what a nice trip it was.

id like to be able to enjoy it before getting back home.

Does this make any sense??

I always get anxious prior to a trip, for me what helps is planning, making sure that I've got things with me that make me feel safe. A big one for me is books, which might sound daft, but if I have books to read I know that I'll be able to switch off for a while and relax. Have you got anything that works the same for you?

Thank you for your reply
yes I am bring a couple of books to read, they will help I think but I usually only read before bed.
I have 23 hours of driving so need to stay ok and relaxed during that time too
im hoping once I get going and when we arrive there I will feel better

thank you

I can be the same way, but that does sound like a really fun trip!

Something to keep your mind off the drive - because that's a long one! - would probably help. Could you try audiobooks or podcasts? I know I prefer to read but sometimes that can make me car sick. If I'm feeling really restless, listening to a favorite show in the car sometimes helps as well.

Definitely plan breaks for yourself if you feel you need them. I love to go to places like ranches because you can usually just take a long walk if you need to and get fresh air, which helps me when I'm feeling anxious.

Sometimes it helps me to plan out all of the fun things I'm going to do on the trip, so I can look forward to them.

Thank you Poppy
I think I over plan and that can get overwhelming
made to our first stop overnight. Felt like I should be home but trying to be calm about it. Night time is my worst I think.
found a nice hotel to stay for the night which helps then back on the road tomorrow
too beat to do any reading, had a glass of warm milk and will try and sleep. I do terrible at sleeping in hotels. Ugh

thanks for the support I do appreciate it
goodnight
