New mole on side of foot

Hi!

Long time since I’ve posted here but I have a worry about melanoma.

A week ago, I noticed a new mole on the outside of my foot. It looked darker than any other moles I have, and it is new (confirmed by a photo 2 months ago when it wasn’t there)

I saw the GP who looked at it through the dermatoscope. It’s 1mm x 1.5mm. He couldn’t see any reason to suspect it’s melanoma (I’m only 30) but he has referred me to Dermatology for reassurance.

Has anyone on here had a new funny looking dark mole pop up on their skin, that wasn’t melanoma?

It’s certainly an “ugly duckling” mole in that it’s darker than anything I have on my skin.

I downloaded an App - scanoma - which says it’s possibly not concerning and possibly concerning. It seems to change its opinion depending on the photo. All my other moles were not concerning.

Advice!?

Also phobic about melanoma here.

My advice would be to delete the app and trust your doctor. I know it's tough, but if he isn't worried then there isn't any reason for you to be.

An update:

I consulted a Dermatologist on Wednesday. He looked at the mole and doesn’t feel it’s likely to be anything. I saw him privately, but he will remove it on the Health Service as it doesn’t warrant immediate removal

He did say he would remove it in a couple of weeks and expects it to be atypical, if anything, rather than melanoma

Of course PubMed etc doesn’t help when I read about Micromelanomas

I came across another poster on here who has a new very dark mole appear, and theirs turned out to be dysplastic (which is benign)

Just wondering is there ANYONE who has had a similar experience?

UPDATE FOR ANYONE WHO WAS FOLLOWING THIS OR MAY READ IT IN THE FUTURE

My new, ugly duckling very dark mole (ugly duckling means it looked different to all my other moles) came back BENIGN!!!!
