Went to a new psychiatrist today who said that I don't really have hypochondriasis but a somatoform disorder and that I shouldn't take antidepressants and it is expected that they wouldn't work for my specific problem and they can only make things worse.

I am taking 50mg for 4 days, then 100 mg and we will increase dosage, she believes until 300mg.

I am concerned that this medicine can cause diabetes when taken long term. I am already at risk person with my chronic anxiety and my hba1c was in at the lower end of pre-diabetes range a year ago.

Wish me luck! I really hope this one solves my issues.

That sounds like a reasonable schedule. 300mg/day is a moderate dose with 800mg being the recommended maximum.

Quetiapine and most other antipsychotics may increase blood sugar levels so they should be regularly monitored by your GP. Given you may be at risk of developing diabetes even before taking this med modifying your diet and increasing activity levels would be wise, imho.
