Melanoma worry

Hi everyone. In a panic here again!
Have had a seborrheic keratosis on my chest for a few years. About 2/3 weeks ago it had a few spots and now half of it is sort of scabby. I am so worried this is melanoma and that the gp misdiagnosed it as a sk. Made an appointment but the earliest is for the 22nd of February. I am going bananas with the worry 😞

Well, even in the worst case scenario, it would more likely be basal cell, and be very treatable. I deal with that. Melanoma is actually quite rare in comparison. But it is also entirely possible it is just your keratosis. Get it checked, but try not to worry about it.

How can you misdiagnose melanoma if you see it all day everyday? Think about that for a second. You went to see someone who looks at skins issues for a living. I would think that they know what they are looking for. Stay off of google.

Hi thanks for the messages. Yes I know the doctor looks at sk all the time. But apparently they can be mixed up with melanoma. It looks horrible! My appointment is on the 22nd and I am so scared that 6 weeks have passed since it started to change. The whole thing has completely changed appearance and has gone hard and crusty. I am terrified

Hi. Thanks for asking. The appointment in the end was with the derm nurse not the doctor. She said it looked like a sk but I told her that I had it for years and that it had changed completely. She has given me a follow up appointment for June.
