For the last 9 months or so I've been back-to-back ill. I had:
Heat exhaustion (very not me)
Cellulitis
Sinus problems
I cut my finger really badly (that's a fluke)
A couple of months of UTI's
Flu
A secondary infections

I've been on about 5 doses of antibiotics.

I've been taking the pill (Femodette) for the past 10 months. I asked my doctor whether the fact I seem to have been ill quite a bit could be linked to the pill, but she's not convinced. When I did a bit of research into it, it only says that the pill doesn't affect your immune system. HOWEVER, when I search for the specific hormones in this pill, there's a bit on how it can have adverse effects on the immune system.

I'm debating coming off this pill, but was wondering if anyone knows anything about this. I feel like I'm maybe just looking for something, but it's the only thing I can pin this string of illnesses to... It's also been a really trying time for my health anxiety and I'm not sure I can keep doing it.

Any help/advice/thoughts very much appreciated! :)

Just in case anyone's interested, I've been looking into this quite a bit following my post and have found some interesting connections, so if anyone else is struggling, please reach out!

I know almost nothing about oral contraceptives generally, much less gestodene (Femodette) specifically, but if the symptoms began soon after you starting taking it then it is the most likely cause no matter what your GP, or the side-effects data say. Switching to another contraceptive should prove it one way or the other.

Thanks for replying - you're right. My dr really wasn't convinced, and said it was probably impacting my sleep and my mental health so I should come off it, but I'm genuinely convinced it was doing more than that. I'm off it now, so time will tell...
