hi everyone, if you have looked at my profile lately you might see posts of me complaining about numbness in my legs, and what not. well.... my worst fears finally came true, i was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.... ive been trying to take it in stride because i know it's just an autoimmune disorder and it's not going to make me perish in a horrible way or anything like something like als (which has been reignited fear wise :p) but my anxiety has ramped up ever since. it's been a bit rough trying to readjust and get back to normality, sometimes i get scared i never will and the thought of "i have ms, im going to perish" wont ever leave my head. i'd love a bit of reassurance here <3 thank you if you've read this!

I'm sorry to hear that! It's really hard to tell how it will affect you. My cousin was diagnosed at 19 but had a very slow progressing one. She's still doing quite well now at 50 but it's definitely affected her life in a big way.
People with MS have a long life span, so you definitely won't perish from it. But it's highly dependent on how aggressive your form is to know how it will affect your quality of life.
Sending you lots of love and support!

thank you all for your words of support ;; the neuros say that the type i have is the relapsing remitting kind, but it was "pretty active" so that scared me, thankfully i only have 7 lesions on my brain and only two on my spine, so not too horrible

Can you get in touch with local MS groups? They are quite active in my area and have helped a few people I know.

i have a therapist who specializes in ms, who's given me resources to groups! right now though it's hard for me to venture out, so ive been finding support from a few people i know who have it, including my aunt suprisingly :o
