What I would say was my first step on the way to recovery occured just before christmas when I managed to summon up the courage to go to an away football match with a friend. I knew it would involve a one hour drive to the game, watch the match and a one hour drive home.

Normally the thought of it would make me feel scared but for some reason (perhaps the therapy) I woke on the morning and just felt like challenging myself.

Got through the day by trying to take my mind off it but about 30 minutes before setting off I felt really nervous. I was determined to take the attacks on this time and found the courage to set off.

What happened? I actually found once we set off that I began to relax. Really enjoyed the match and couldn't believe how easy I was finding it.

From this point I have learned that I can fight back against my fears.

no one ever died wishing they had spent more time at work

That is fantasic news Mike - Well done!

Glad you had a great time at the footie..

I have also realised the more you face the fear the easier life becomes and the less panicky you feel the next time!

A great story,, thanx for the inspiration,,, [8D]

Hi Mike,

Im so glad you managed to do this, and taught yourself how to combat your fears.
Well done for having the courage to tackle them.

So often we find that the anticipation is often worse than the actual event.
Im so glad you enjoyed yourself and hope your team won!

Great news Mike.

You have shown that once you relax you can have a good day and enjoy yourself.

And even if your team did't win, you had a win of your own.:D

Take care
Maxine
