hi amm1066

glbubus hystericus (sensation of lump in throat) yes i have had it over the years its anxiety, do not have it much now its one of the symptoms i have been able to rid myself of thank god its not nice, but i do suffer with dry throat and mouth badly, when i get that feeling just suck a sweet lemon sherbots good, into blackcurrent halls and tunes at the minute, helps relieves
the throat as well, its hard to ignore, but the more you think about it the worse it gets.
also make sure you drink plenty as well so your not dehydrated, that helps. water that is lol !!!!
happy new year, hope it brings you a good one, be positve.

Hi Tony :)

Yes indeed my symptoms have been similar to yours, My globus flares up when I am anxious and I find that sipping water helps...

I am about to see the ENT specialist as well with regards to post-nasal drip as I do think that sometimes this is part of the problem as well...

hi,
im not 100% sure if its anxiety or acid reflux( had it last year for a few months) but ive been getting very dry sore throat at nite when im in bed.....untill after i wake up...

i think it is very possible its anxiety....if worse comes to worse ...if it turns out to be acid relux, then theres tablets to get rid of it. so nothing to worry about either way.
id agree with other replies, drink water....

Hi Tony,

Globus hystericus is one of my biggest symptoms and yes my throat can feel dry and uncomfortable. I've tried drinking water and sucking sweets but find concentrating on something else helps me the most.

Take care,

Mike :)

i have this at the moment too - its horrible!!! i only have it on one side, but it feels like something is pressing down on my throat. eating eases the discomfort, as does time...

mine was disappearing only to flare up again a couple of days ago. i don't get a dry mouth as such, just discomfort, but i heard dry mouth is a common symptom. apparently its to do with the subconscious tightening of muscles in the throat due to stress.

Thx everyone,
Sorry to be a pain but can anybody describe their symptoms, my throat normally feels fine when I wake but as i start to swallow the area around soft palate, tonsils and roof of mouth become sore. I have noticed I am clenching my teeth and pressing my tongue against the roof of my mouth whch doesnt help. When people say I feel a lump in my throat do they mean near your adams apple or near your tonsils or both?
Thanks to anyone who can help,Im really struggling quite badly with this one even though Ive had it before. I can feel depresion deepening and anxiety/panic/agoraphobia rising after a steady improvement over the last six months.

Tony.

heya,

the fact you don't have it first thing is another good sign its anxiety related - when you sleep you relax and don't worry about things (normally!) and when you wake things get worse... mine peak in the early evening and i think that this is common for alot of people.

in terms of discomfort, mine ranges from a typical sore throat (which is exactly what it is!) to aching right down my neck and even top of chest and back (between shoulder blades). i find i overly swallow too when i'm anxious and this makes the problem worse. i also find i get a tingling sensation in my neck which makes me panic because i think its something to do with lymph nodes when in fact its my rather odd brain just focussing on that area more because i'm worried about it.

i have been thoroughly investigated and i KNOW that my symptoms are due to anxiety - even when sometimes it really actually hurts!

take care,

Hi Tony,

My throat feels as though there is a lump, or that it's a little tight, around the area of my adam's apple. I can also feel the back of my mouth can feel dry and both symptoms are really uncomfortable. It doesn't happen all the time and my thyroid is normal so I know it's a symptom of stress. My doctor told me that the tight feeling is because your throat muscles tighten when anxious. As Jessica says, it is a good sign that your throat is okay first thing in the morning because it would be bad all the time if it was a physical problem.

Take care,

Mike :)
