Had BP checked today and it was 140 over 70 which I think is getting near top of the range, already taking meds for BP so now have to have it checked each week, something else to worry about !.
Does anyone else have a BP problem and is it part of the anxiety syndrome ?
Decca.

Ok I am amazed cos I was always told that the first reading should be about 100+ your age.

I think the 2 readings need to be read together and not in isolation so I still think your reading is ok to be honest.

Thanks for the re-assurance Nicola.
On this site it says it's mild high -

Hi Decca,
I have been on the Forum for 3 months. In that time I have changed from Rampril to Amias Bp tablets.it can take a bit of tweaking to find the right Bp tablet for someone.Since using the Forum,my BP has come down from 145/95 to 128/78.I credit the Forum and the lessons learned here for this change.
It could be that you have attentive staff at your surgery-nothing sinister to worry about.
Do talk to the Staff and explain your concerns though-get some re-assurrance.
Best wishes,
Chalky

Chap

Relax, I see 160/95 under stress, but my normal BP is around 135/82 and the doc's are not concerned (or they don't like me ;) ).

140/90 is borderline, but even then, it is not critical, a few lifestyle changes can bring it down.

I had blood pressure problems and have weaned myself down to half a pill a day. However whenever I am anxious my BP defintely tends to rise. The more exercise etc and calmer you can stay the better. However your reading really isnt too high. Just keep an eye on it!!

I have high blood pressure as well, I've seen mine as high as 175/110 with heart rate of 125+ while resting. It's usually around 145-155/60-95. On meds now for 3 weeks, but nothing seems to bring it down (exercise and diet wise too). Still trying to figure something out with it.

I had high blood pressure during my pregnancies and since the menopause it has gone up. I am on 5mg Ramipril and the doctor seems happy with it now and makes allowances for it going up when I am in a state. My mother who was anxious had high BP and my 36 year old son who takes after me for nerves also has it in fact he is on a higher dose of Ramipril than me.
